JOHN CALLAHAN: Class X is the largest classification in Illinois for felonies, meaning it's where the largest amount of drugs are found. It's also the strongest and most harsh sentence that a defendant can face. It's a minimum of six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections all the way up to 30 and then sometimes even more than that.
MICHAEL NORRIS: Probation is not an option in a class X felony. That being said, there's always an exception. It's like this law is eternal, except if you have a good lawyer. You can get class X felonies reduced to a felony that would allow you to get probation.
JOHN CALLAHAN: When you hire an attorney on a class X felony charge, your life is in his hands. You don't want somebody who's not going to look through the details and look at every single aspect of the case to try to beat it.
MICHAEL NORRIS: I've had 40 years of experience in this stuff. I've had cases that I've represented people on in about 15 different states, all serious drug cases. I have a complete idea as to what evidence is going to be available, how they got the evidence. And I'm extremely competent at defending my clients.
